How does a contact lens exam differ from a regular eye exam?

Routine eye exams test your eye health and visual acuity, which may also involve eye focus, movement, and teaming. During a contact lens exam, not only will we determine your prescription, but our Hampton Bays optometrist will also measure the pupil and cornea of your eye to see what size of contacts you’ll need. We’ll also evaluate the shape and health of your corneas to determine what kind of contacts are best suited for you.

Do I need an annual exam? 

We recommend our patients schedule annual eye exams so we can monitor their eye health and see if there have been any changes in their vision. During a routine exam, we can also ensure your contacts continue to provide you with optimal sight. As contacts rest on the surface of your eye, there’s a greater risk of developing eye infections or other eye issues that can negatively impact the effectiveness of your contacts.

Do contact lens prescriptions expire?
